We're a group of writers in various genres and of varying experience who meet together in Kelso to help people to improve their writing skills and to help people begin writing fiction and to reduce social isolation. The low cost workshops have a focus primarily on talks, 'open mic' sessions and short stories. If you haven’t attended one of our workshops before, it’s free of charge. You're welcome to come and just listen. We are a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation no SC049640.

MEET THE POET: WENDY COPE
Heart of Hawick and The Eildon Tree Magazine present a
unique opportunity to hear renowned poet Wendy Cope.
Since her highly acclaimed poetry collection Making Cocoa for
Kingsley Amis (Faber and Faber 1986), Wendy Cope has been
at the forefront of the British poetry scene. A winner of the
Cholmondeley Award in 1987, other publications include Serious
Concerns (Faber 1992), the Whitbread Poetry Award shortlisted
If I Don’t Know (Faber 2001) and Cures for Love (Faber 2008).
A Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature, in 1998 she was
listeners’ choice in a BBC Radio 4 poll to succeed Ted Hughes as
Poet Laureate.
Wendy Cope’s incisive, funny and often heart wrenching verse
justifies her National Treasure status. She was awarded an OB E
in 2010.
